Don’t Leave Your Child’s Dental Health in their Hands

It is easy to want to believe that after a certain point your children are old enough to take care of their own smile or we may assume they are doing a fantastic job of taking care of their smile and they no longer reminders from us to help support them, but this is not true, children often forget to brush the backs of their front teeth, molars, or they rush through the brushing process in order to wrap it up and get to other things they love. It is also critical that children are flossing correctly. This can be difficult for children, especially younger children who are still developing dexterity. In order for children to really floss, especially the back teeth, they need to be able to reach back there. This can be difficult, which means their smile may be at risk for dental decay and other concerns. While you hope that your children will be independent and not need constant reminders or you looking over their shoulder. Protect their smile, with hel...

Are You Saving Their Baby Teeth?

Image
Doctors may be urging parents to hold onto their child’s baby teeth because one day it may save their life. Research shows that baby teeth contain stem cells that can ensure that your child has the ability to cure a number of diseases, as well as potentially grow tissue.  You may be thinking how can a little baby tooth impact the overall health of my child. Research shows that when the right combination of chemicals are added to stem cells it can actually increase the number of stem cells in order to fight off life threatening diseases and other problems your little one may face in the future.  While some parents are keeping cord blood for this benefit, don’t panic if you missed this possibility. This option gives you some extra time to do your research and determine if this is an option for you and your family.  If collec...

Is Your Child Suffering From A Missing Tooth?

Image
Children naturally have missing teeth during their childhood ranging in age from 5 – 10 while their permanent teeth are coming in. But did your child have an accident that has them missing a tooth earlier than they should? A missing tooth can cause stress, speech trouble and other problems for your child, but a pedi-partial can ensure that not only is your child’s smile is back to normal while their other teeth are coming in, but they are able to formulate correct sounds. Partials are a fantastic way to ensure that your child’s smile is back to its functionality. Once the missing tooth is replaced by the partial, which is   attached to their existing teeth they can go back to laughing, smiling and have normal function. When it is time, it can be removed and the other teeth will grow in returning their smile to a natural state. Food may build-up around their pedi-partial and should be taken care of. Brushing and flossing is critical to keeping their smile healthy. Teac...

Should I Worry About Dental Sedation For My Child

When some dental procedures are done for children, it may require them to have dental sedation for a variety of reasons. If your child is very anxious about visiting the dentist, is having a procedure done that requires a cavity, root canal or other dental procedure that is different from the routine cleaning, it may require your child to have dental sedation. Nitrous Oxide or laughing gas may be utilized in order to help your child be able to remain calm. This is usually a very quick process and is administered with a mask that has a mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide. This is known as laughing gas. Once your child is relaxed Dr. Fuller and his team will begin the procedure. Once the procedure is over, the dentist will give them pure oxygen in order to clear out any remaining nitrous oxide. It may be needed for your child to refrain from having food or drink prior to sedation depending on the type of sedation recommended. If it has been recommended that your child receive seda...
