Do You Have Time For a Dental Emergency?

Dental emergencies for your children can crop up at any time and while some of them may not be able to be prevented, some can. For example, dental decay that damages the root, causing a need for a root canal, can be prevented with routine cleanings, regular brushing and flossing and ensuring that your child consumes healthy food. While dental emergencies are stressful, we can help decrease that stress. Dental emergencies can be anything from a cracked or broken tooth, dental pain or toothache. For a toothache we recommend rinsing the area with warm water, if there is food or another item stuck between the teeth, remove it immediately to see if that reduces or decreases the pain. If there is swelling you can apply a cold compress. If the toothache does not subside, it is recommended that you contact Dr. Cameron Fuller and his team in order to schedule an appointment right away. Sometimes trauma can cause a tooth to be pushed up through the jawbone. If this happens ...

How Sugar Impacts Your Child’s Smile

We all know that sugar can be damaging to the body, but do you know how harmful it can be to your child’s smile? Decay can happen when teeth enamel is attacked by acid. Having your child drink water instead of Gatorade, fruit juice, milk or other drinks, especially in the evening, can e...

Don’t Accept No For An Answer!

Image
If your children are fighting you on healthy dental habits, it is critical you don’t take no for an answer. Your children having a healthy smile is critical not only for their oral health, but for their overall health. Research shows that there is a body and mouth connection. When the mouth has bacteria, decay or cavities it can impact the overall health of your children as well. More children miss school due to dental situations than any other reason. And if you want your children to do their best while they are in school, you can’t have them sitting in class with dental pain. When your children tell you no, they do not want to brush their teeth. Do not accept this as the answer. Brushing their teeth is the only way to remove plaque and build-up from the surface of their teeth. The longer that food particles and other items are on their teeth the more likely they are to have dental decay or more serious dental problems. Taking the time to educat...
