Finding a pediatric dentist that is the right fit for your family can be challenging. There are multiple characteristics that make a pediatric dentist a fantastic choice for your child, and some of it comes down to family preference. Here is a list of things that Dr. Cameron Fuller and his team recommend you may want to consider when looking for your next dentist.

1.     Which is better suited for our family a pediatric dentist or a general dentist? Pediatric dentists go to school for a longer period of time to focus specifically on children and how to handle them in order to become experts in their field. This means that they are well trained in dealing with challenges that are unique to children.
2.      Does the dentist and their team listen to you? It is critical to have an office that hears your concerns and addresses them. If you do not feel comfortable when discussing treatment and options neither will your child. Children are very sensitive to what is going on around them.
3.     Do the front office team greet you when you walk in the door? If you visit your child’s dentist office, does the front office personnel smile and welcome you in? You should feel that you are welcome in the office and having them smile and be friendly when you enter is a great way for you and your child to feel more comfortable.

"However, it is very important that if your child has a gap in their teeth due to a maxillary frenum, or another reason, that it be corrected," says pediatric dentist Dr. Cameron Fuller. Your child’s education, speech and self-confidence is dependent upon it being corrected at an early age.             As your child gets older they are working on saying certain sounds. Children who are younger than five should be developing the ability to say all of the sounds.
