Tips To Help Your Kids Eat Healthy

It is no secret there are a number of items that are in the grocery store and in the school tempting your children to consume them that are unhealthy. Not only is eating unhealthy food bad for their body, it can create a lifetime of dental problems. Dental decay is the number one preventable disease in the United States. Dr. Cameron Fuller and his team recommend these 5 tips to improving your child’s eating and the health of their smile.

1.     Have them go to the grocery store with you. Letting them be a part of the process of picking out food and cooking can encourage them to eat healthy food they may not love.
2.     Pack their lunch and snacks. Kids are just as prone as adults to choose unhealthy foods when they are hungry. The school day is a long day, but packing their food, you cut down on the opportunities they have to consume food that is not good for them.
3.     Talk to them about healthy versus unhealthy choices. Explaining to your children what sugar and other high fat sources do to their bodies and their smile can help educate them to make better choices.
4.     Take time to clean out your kitchen. Leaving healthy food choices in your fridge and counters is an easy way to reduce the opportunity your children have to grab food that is not good for their smile.
