7 Food’s That Can Improve the Health Of Your Child’s Smile

The food that your toddler eats not only will shape their habits for a lifetime but it can also damage their smile. Helping them to pick healthy options when they are younger can ensure they have a healthy smile forever. The teeth are the hardest substance in your child’s body, and can withstand the test of time when you give them the nutrients they need. Here are 7 foods’ that can keep their smile healthy.

1.     Apples. They are a great source of vitamins that not only nourishes the body but are packed with water that can help rinse food from the surface of the teeth.

2.     Carrots, contain 400% of your daily vitamin A, but carrots also help to remove food from the teeth because they have a natural abrasiveness to them.

3.     Non-fat yogurt. This is a fantastic snack for your children because it is low in sugar. The less sugar your child consumes on a regular basis the better for your child’s teeth.

4.     Baked zucchini chips can provide a filling treat for your children without the carbs that stick to teeth.

5.     Sliced almonds. Almonds are packed with vitamin E but they can damage the teeth because of how hard they are. Avoid giving your child whole almonds and instead utilize sliced almonds.

6.     Cheese is a great source of protein and can keep your child’s pearly whites, white for a lifetime. Pair a piece of cheese with apples or a piece of turkey as a fantastic treat.

7.     Fruit or vegetable infused water. Your child should drink 5 glasses if they are between the ages of 5-8. If they struggle to drink water incorporating strawberries or cucumbers can provide a quick snack and keep their teeth healthy.

  1. I know that there are foods that can damage dental health, but I never would have thought that eating certain foods could actually help improve it. I don't have any kids, but I'm sure that if these things can help a kid's health, then they can help mine. I'll definitely have to add some cheese apples and almonds into my daily snack rotation at work. http://www.cordoradental.com
