Healthy Dental Habits Over The Holidays

The holidays are here and it can be difficult to keep your child’s dental habits on track. You spend all year talking to them about the importance of brushing and flossing. You remind them to eat healthy and you schedule dental appointments that ensure their smile is free of decay. But then the holidays come and you find yourself faced with unhealthy treats, limited time and late nights. Pretty soon, the healthy dental habits may go out the window. Dr. Fuller and his team recommend these 4 suggestions to help keep your child’s dental health on track.

1.     Put a toothbrush and floss downstairs by the kitchen sink or in the downstairs bathroom. This way you can have your child brush and floss right after eating to ensure they complete the task.
2.     Purchase healthy fruits and vegetables and put it in containers that ensure healthy habits.
3.     Take travel toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste with you in your purse or other bag when heading for outings or have sugar free gum available for them to chew on after eating high carbohydrate foods to remove food from the surface of their teeth.

4.     Keep a bottle of water healthy. Water helps keep the kids mouth from becoming dry. For more information on keeping their smile healthy, contact Dr. Fuller and his team.
