Is Teeth Whitening A Safe Option For My Teen?
Your teen should be at least fourteen before having them utilize any whitening kits or having a whitening procedure completed. Pediatric dentist Dr. Fuller states, “By this age, the pulp is fully formed and will decrease the sensitivity to any whitening products they use.” Until age fourteen you can help ensure your teenager has a healthy, white smile by providing them with plenty of fruits and vegetables with high-water concentration to eat. You can also have them stay away from teeth staining products such as tea, coffee and soda.
“Once they reach the age of fourteen if they are struggling with their smile, consult a pediatric dentist,” suggests Dr. Cameron Fuller, “They can provide you and your teen with the facts about whitening.” If you decide this is an option, they can also provide more information on which whitening product is best for your teenager because not all whitening products are created equal.
